He was certified by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) as a Registered Physician for Vascular Interpretation (RPVI) in 2007 and as a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) in 2010. He was the Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and Director of Peripheral Vascular Intervention at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center ( Paterson, N.J.) for many years. He also is on staff at The Valley Hospital (Ridgewood, N.J.). His office based ultrasound imaging laboratory is certified by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (ICAVL).
Dr. Cohen has been a pioneer in the use of a wide variety of new catheter-based therapies for vascular diseases. He has gained substantial experience and national recognition by using these systems in highly innovative ways. He has participated in a research protocol in carotid stent implantation and has gained substantial expertise in this modality. He was a principal investigator in a pivotal international research study on the use of lasers for critical limb ischemia (LACI-2) trial.
As public interest in this work has grown, Dr. Cohen has been the subject of a number of news stories on television and print over the last few years. Patients from around the country, and even from overseas, have travelled to receive care from Dr. Cohen, and physicians from around the nation have received training in arterial and venous therapy from Dr. Cohen. In order to further enhance his ability to deliver this care, Dr. Cohen has established Circulatory Care of New Jersey and the Center for Advanced Vein Therapy, a pioneering medical practice in Paramus, New Jersey.
