Center For Advanced Vein Therapy - Procedures

At the Center for Advanced Vein Therapy, we offer the following therapeutic services in the convenience of our modern, well-equipped office:

Endovenous Laser Treatment (EVLT):

This treatment replaces the "vein stripping" procedure that has been often used for treatment of failed saphenous veins or large venous tributaries.  EVLT uses a laser catheter inserted through a small needle puncture near the knee to close the faulty vein. This is accomplished in an office setting using local anesthesia only and without scars.  The patient can return to an active life immediately.  The symptoms and bulging varicose veins usually resolve or improve dramatically very quickly after this treatment.

Below are some "Before and After photographs demonstrating the benefits of EVLT:

Ambulatory Phlebectomy:

For patients with bulging varicose veins that cannot be treated completely with EVLT, an ambulatory phlebectomy can be performed.  This minimally invasive procedure is performed in the comfort of the office under local anesthesia.  The varicose veins are physically removed from the leg through tiny skin punctures resulting in immediate relief of symptoms and a dramatic cosmetic improvement.

Sclerotherapy:

Malfunctioning veins of all sizes can also be closed by directly injecting substances called "sclerosants" into the veins with tiny needles.  These medications lead to complete closure of these veins with a high degree of safety and effectiveness.  This can be used to treat the tiniest spider veins or larger varicose veins.  Either direct visual injection can be done, or, for deeper veins, injection can be guided using an ultrasound probe.  This latter technique is called "ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy."

Compression Therapy:

Almost all patients with venous insufficiency, both before and after treatments, benefit from compressive stockings which reduce symptoms, improve venous flow, prevents complications of treatment, and optimizes the effectiveness of all the treatments offered.
